You can post any briefs here. Please do not post the same type of brief that someone else has.

United States of America Invasion other countries.

If the United States of America Interfere with other countries their troops will be spread out. This will cause us to be easier to attack. I am not saying we should never go into to other countries because they are cause a threat to us. No I am just saying we should be more careful in what countries we invade.

I hope this was useful for you.

Technological gains

Our knowledge of other countries and their technology will decline with isolationism. If we don’t converse with other nations and learn about them we will not be able to understand them. We won’t know about their technology. Imagine with me that you are an inventor. If you can’t figure out how to do some thing, you can look at a similar invention and figure it out. Without seeing the invention, you can not figure it out. We will not be able to improve our technology without seeing other technologies.

Subversive Ideas that We Find Unpleasant

If you see someone eat dirt, does that make you want to eat dirt? Of course not! The same thing goes for subversive ideas that we find unpleasant. If we find it bad would we want it? Of course we wouldn’t.

Duty to Intervene

Without interfering in world affairs, we will not be able to help other countries, who have been invaded, or are unhappy with a corrupt government. Imagine with me that you are living in a dictatorship. Another country invades your country and changes the government. Now life is much better. The U.S. has a duty to intervene and help our fellow countries.

Isolationism increases cultural unity.

Not necessarily the country could be torn a part because of isolation. This would happen because the citizens might feel that their rights are violated, Thus causing there to be less unity.

It makes us stronger.

It could make other counties want to attack us.

1.

Affirmative argument:
If we are not isolated then we will not be safe

Negative Evidence:

Logical Fallacy: False Dilemma <-- you do not have to be isolated to be secure/safe

2.

Affirmative Argument:
If we are not isolated, then we will stretch our resources too thin

Negative Evidence:

Fallacy: Special pleading

This argument omits the fact that we won't necessarily use military force in all situations. It also omits the fact that mitigating can be carried out in cost effective ways.

Fallacy: False assumptions

It also assumes that mitigating will automatically indicate multi million dollar relief efforts coupled with military force.

Quote: Theodore Roosevelt stated "Speak softy and carry a big stick.” Our involvement can be carried out in a variety of cost effective ways to suit the conflict situations accordingly.

3.

Affirmative Argument:
Valuing Isolationism makes us stronger

Negative Evidence:

Analogy: All the your eggs in one basket <--- if something happens to the basket, then all of your eggs are destroyed

Historical Example: Pearl Harbor <-- all of our ships were in one area so it was easier for the Japanese to attack us.
