In your case, did you include a criterion?
If not, how do you hope to achieve ANY of your values, much less all of them?

Ok, i would make that a bit more clear, or put it under its own subtitle just to be safe. the jusdges will be looking for this kind of thing.

Ok Christian I'l tell you why I asked all those seemingly random questions.

You said that country's were only prosperous if they were founded on popular sovereignty, but getting you to agree that America on the whole is prosperous, and that it was founded on the declaration of independence which is all about individual rights, just blew out one of your points. That is why I quizzed you on USA history.

Now as to your next points... Wink

PostSubject: RESPONSE!   Mon Nov 29, 2010 2:28 pm

I'm afraid that your argument doesn't work...

  1. I didn't say that a country is only prosperous if it is founded on popular sovereignty, but rather it is the best option for determining a governments legitimacy.
  2. The declaration of independence was based on rights. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that it best promotes the legitimacy of a government. You must prove that.
  3. Therefore, one of my points is standing very strong.
  4. That was a great quiz.

Nice rebuttal!

Addressing 1, you didn't give any evidence.
Addressing 2, yet it still led to one of the most prosperous nations on earth, versus Cuba which is founded on popular sovereignty, and is super poor.
Addressing 3, was standing strong Wink
Addressing 4, why thanks, I'll give you a B+ Very Happy

  1. I stated many evidences in my Affirmative Constructive Case.
  2. Just because it is a prosperous nation, doesn't mean that it determines governmental legitimacy. Also, America isn't just based on individual rights.

BTW Great questions! Also, I'm sorry if I have come across proud in any way.

Just because there isn't an example in history doesn't mean that it isn't the best form of government. Take other forms for example: "Name one example of pure communism."

So basically your whole proposition is based on a fictional country which it is impossible to exist? Of what use is that?

It isn't impossible by any means. It just hasn't been tried. Remember, this is value debate.
